A festival where the main activity centres on a parade of beasts and carriages that make a circuit through the city centre with a starting point and an ending point.
It is a festival in procession format which honours the patron saint of domestic animals, Sant Antoni. According to legend, if he saw an injured animal, he would immediately cure it. And Barcelona was no exception, since the patron saint healed a pig, causing his image to be portrayed with this animal at his side.
Els Tres Tombs is celebrated on 17 January, the date on which the patron saint of Sant Antoni died.
